An analog
room in Chennai

Built for people who want to hear the take, not build it afterwards.

The idea

Why a desk
at all

A computer can do everything a console does, eventually. What it cannot do is let four hands move at once, or let a singer hear a change the moment they ask for it.

Sonic Sanctum was set up around that difference. The Audient ASP4816 sits at the centre of the room, wired so that every microphone lands on a fader. Decisions get made with hands, in real time, while the musician is still in the moment.

It also happens to be the first analog console installed in a Chennai studio — but that is a fact about the city, not the reason we did it.

How a session runs

Four hours,
start to files

A typical tracking day, so you know what you are paying for.

STEP 1

Set up and line check

Microphones placed, headphone mixes built for each player, levels set on the desk. Roughly the first half hour.

STEP 2

Tracking

Takes recorded through the console and preamps. The engineer keeps a running list of the best passes as you go.

STEP 3

Comp and rough mix

Best parts assembled, a balanced rough printed on the monitors so you leave with something listenable.

STEP 4

Files out

WAVs and the rough sent the same day. Stems and full mixes follow if the session includes mixing.

Walk-in visits are welcome between 9 am and 9 pm. Bring a reference track and listen on the monitors before you book anything.
